The 7 Mistakes All Emotionally Abused Women Make

Abused women blame themselves for a lot of things. That is the inevitable consequence of domestic violence. In this article we shall focus on just one aspect of domestic violence; that is mental, emotional abuse. Usually, the things that women who have suffered domestic violence blame themselves for fall into one of two categories: the things that are not their fault, and the things that are not important in the great scheme of things.

Cutlery And More

Things that are not their fault include:

Cutlery And More

Making a mess of individual situations. Their partners' outburst are always, somehow, their fault. Spoiling the relationship. (In reality they are the ones who try to hold it together.) Being stupid. (They aren't - although they will honour the unfortunate choice to love a man who is not worthy of them.) Being too old, or too young. (They are the age they are. It takes a special kind of idiot to turn around one day and say to someone of 21, or 41, or 71, that they are suddenly unacceptable Being ugly. (Living a life of ugliness is enough to make anyone feel ugly; but the ugliness lies in the eyes of the abusive man, not his partner.) Not being good enough. (Good enough for whom, for Heaven's sake? And how did that happen? Did the abusive man make a mistake in selecting his woman in the first place? Or does he operate a sliding scale?) Being failures as women. (It's what they are told. What it means is that they are not the perfect cross between a slave and a supermodel. Not that their partner is a dead ringer for George Clooney! But that doesn't count.)

Things that are not important include:

Their weight. (It is perfectly possible to be overweight, underweight or the perfect weight and be loved. Just not by an abusive man, because they make an art form of finding fault with everything about you.) Their past mistakes. (They are in the past, after all. Fortunately, abusive men know they will never be judged on their pas mistakes.) Their education. Their family - because an abusive woman is not responsible for her family of origin.

The mistakes that abused women make have nothing to do with the alleged crimes for which their partners reproach them. These mistakes are errors of judgement that abused women make unconsciously, which cause them enormous suffering.

The 7 mistakes

1) Turning a blind eye to his first unacceptable temper tantrums. You say that you do that because you love him. He interprets your acceptance as collusion. In his eyes, you have given him clear proof that you area doormat.

2) Trying over and over again to make the abusive relationship work. When an abusive partner has told you, either in words or actions, 3, or 4, or 5 times, that he does not value you or the relationship, you have to believe it. He is offering you his mission statement. Time to head for the hills.

3) Making excuses for him. Why would feel obliged to improve his behaviour when you are willing to excuse him? Your excuses give him carte blanche to carry on behaving as badly, or worse, than he has done in the past.

4) Feeling responsible for him. The time comes when you say; "I've had enough. It's over." He's foreseen that day, and he's ready. He turns on the crocodile tears. He tells you that he can't live without you. It's taken this for him to discover how much he loves you. From now on, he will be a good boy. But he does need you to help him. You agree, and he's back on track. Once again, he has got you to carry him. Will he change? No.

5) Minimizing. He behaves like a heel, and you know it. But you tell yourself: "He had a difficult childhood." "He's had a hard time at work - or being out of work." "It's just the drink talking." Bad behaviour is still bad behaviour. He has no right to dump on you - until you let him.

6) Covering up. Your relationship is ghastly. But you don't want the world to know. So you put on a brave face. That's collusion. Once again, you are giving him permission to behave as badly as he wants. Because it will all stay behind closed doors. In fact, while you are playing Loyal Little Woman, he can be out spreading poison about you. If you change your tune, who do you think will be believed?

7) Believing in fairy tales. Of course, you don't consciously believe in fairy tales: you are a grown woman not a little girl, after all. But, unconsciously, you're still stuck acting out Beauty and the Beast. I don't know whether you met the Handsome Prince, or the Beast, first off. I do know who you are living with. Every last petal has dropped off that rose, the only time the crockery and cutlery dance is when he gets angry, and the Beast is still a Beast. That's all he will ever be. Time to get real. And, if some other naïve woman, wants to play Beauty and the Beast with him, good luck to her. Reality is not like fairy tales. One key difference to bear in mind: in the real world, when you first get together with someone, they are on their best behaviour, they wear their most attractive mask. With abusers it is all one way from there: downhill. The behaviour degenerates, the mask drops, the result is a whole load of misery for you. Period.

The real mistakes that women make in abusive relationships have nothing to do with faults or inadequacies. They are all about being too willing to carry on believing the best of someone who is trying very hard to show you just what a jerk he is. Abusive men don't give you too many gifts. Showing you just how unpleasant and callous they can be is the best gift you can have in a lousy situation. Accept it graciously, before your abusive partner keeps slamming it into your face. And move on.

One thing they never tell you in fairy stories is that the beautiful maiden doesn't actually need a man to be happy. She just thinks she does. But when she learns to be truly happy by herself, and for herself, she will attract a much better class of man than a Beast/Prince.

Yellow Perch

Perch are a great fish for young and old. They can be fished at any time of the year and in many depths of water. Perch are a great starter fish for kids or catching the big ones can be a great challenge to even the seasoned angler. Some of the biggest and most impressive catches are caught in the winter time.

Cutlery And More

Most perch are caught 2 or 3 inches off the bottom of the lake. Live bait is usually the bait of choice for most anglers with maggots being the most popular. You can tip a lead head jig with bait or use a plain number 4 to 6 hook with a split shot about six inches above the hook.

Cutlery And More

Perch can be found in many of the same places that you would find walleye. In the spring time you can look for them in the shallow bays and on shallow flats where the sun is warming up the water. For the rest of the year you can fish weedy or rocky humps. My favorite place in the summer time is in deep water with high weeds. I fish just above the weeds. You should try this; I think you will be surprised at what comes out of the weeds to feed on your hook.

You don't want to use heavy tackle when fishing for perch. Light tackle is preferred because perch are not heavy fighters. You shouldn't use more then 4 pound test. The lighter tackle makes casting the smaller hooks easier.

For many years perch fishing has been a great way to kill a bad day of fishing. Perch fishing has helped in the bonding of many fathers and their kids. It has even helped to get a lot of women involved in the great sport of fishing. So remember that no matter what a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work.

Whey Protein On Angle Grinder Stroller Frame

Fishing By Moon Phase: Increase Your Catch

Every fisherman dreams of a bigger catch! Is it possible to know beforehand when you should plan a trip to enjoy some fishing, catch more than usual, and come home feeling 100% satisfied? Based on my own personal research around the best fishing times, I think it is.

Cutlery And More

When I first started fishing, the best fishing time for me was whatever time happened to suit me. I tried different lures, baits and techniques until I'd spent a small fortune in my quest to improve my fishing catch. When I finally heard about the "Solunar Theory"--or fishing by moon phase--like most anglers, I was skeptical.

Cutlery And More

What I'd read sounded too complicated. All sorts of factors needed to be checked and the determined angler needed to be at the water's edge at exactly the right time, TO THE MINUTE, in order to improve on his average catch. Was I really willing to take my hobby that seriously? Let's just say that curiosity got the better of me.

To help me determine whether there was any truth in the moon's effect on the best fishing times, I kept a record of every trip I made over a period of 18 months. All information related to the moon's phases, the weather conditions and the catches I made were carefully logged. What I discovered convinced me that moon phase fishing works. BUT, I also found that it isn't anywhere near as complicated as many would have us believe.

How Does Fishing By Moon Phase Work?

Every fisherman knows that the best fishing times are when the fish are feeding. This tends to be during dawn and dusk, but what often goes unnoticed are the two periods elsewhere in the day--moonrise and moonset. Because the moon has an effect on a variety of factors surrounding the fish--including the live fodder they hunt--these periods, combined with the moon's phase, are what trigger feeding.

By understanding this, and choosing times when sunrise/sunset and moonrise/moonset coincide with new or full moon phases, you'll increase you chance of a good fishing catch. Assuming there are fish in the area, of course.

Choosing The Best Fishing Times

There really is nothing complicated about this at all; it's just a matter of knowing ahead of time exactly when the sun and moon will rise and set. Fish are most active during 90-minute windows surrounding each of these four daily events; that's 45 minutes before and after these four daily points.

Fishing during these four periods will help increase your fishing catch, but if you plan wisely so as to ensure you're at the water's edge on the days of new or full moon, you can use these 'windows' to reel in a catch like you've never done before. If you have to choose between sunrise/set and moonrise/set, always go with the moon as the moon is the stronger influence.

Hunters have always known that fish and game are most active at dawn and dusk--sunrise and sunset--but their activity surrounding moonrise and moonset is less noticeable because these events are likely to occur without effecting any change in the perceived light. The rise and set of a new moon is invisible anyway, and overcast weather often hides the moon. Without prior knowledge of setting and rising times, two of the best fishing times will be missed every day!

Other Considerations

When planning your fishing by moon phase, there are certain other factors that should also be considered.

Weather - Severe weather changes have an impact on the way fish feed. When a storm's brewing, or just after one has passed, is a good time. If this happens while you're in place, you'll be in for a treat! However, if there's a cold front approaching, the fish are likely to move deeper into the water and become inactive.

Season - Most fish are more likely to bite willingly during seasonal transitions with the transition from winter to spring and summer to fall being the two best fishing times.

Now that you know that moon phase fishing really works, there's no reason why you shouldn't utilize this knowledge to increase your own fishing catch by being at the ready with your rod during the best fishing times available. It's easy and it works!

Good luck!

How to Hunt Coyotes at Night

In most States and Provinces throughout North America coyotes can be hunted year round. In many of the areas coyotes can be hunted both day and night as well. By learning how to hunt coyotes at night, a hunter can hunt coyotes 24/7, 365 days a year. Night hunting for coyote, where legal, can be a very exciting and an extremely effective way to keep their population at bay. Here we will discuss tips and tactics on how to hunt coyotes at night.

Cutlery And More

Coyotes, like most predators are mainly nocturnal. They do the majority of their day to day activities at night like hunting, eating, breeding and establishing hierarchy. For this reason, hunting coyotes at night can be very fast paced as you see a lot more than during daylight hours. They also feel more secure at night knowing that humans, their only predator, are less active at night, so they tend to be a little less weary.

Cutlery And More

Spot Lighting:

If you are hunting at night you will need a way to see the coyotes. The most practical tool for bringing light to the night is a high powered spotlight. These spotlights are extremely bright and will do a good job lighting up coyotes up to 400 yards, if you invest in a good one.

When using a spot light, animals that can see in the dark are very easy to see as their eyes make a very bright reflection, much like a light of their own. For this reason, you do not have to spend much time scanning an area to see if there are any coyotes nearby. All animal eyes have a certain glow to them when hit with an artificial light. It is important to be able to determine what type of animal is in your light before you start shooting as it can be hard to tell. Many times though it is easy enough to tell by just the eye reflection after you gain some experience. You will find that predator eyes are typically brighter than prey eyes. Be aware though, there are always variances in reflection strength and color, so be extremely sure of your target before aiming a weapon at it.

Most spotlighting is done from a vehicle where the spotlights are run off of 12 volt power out of the car cigarette lighter. It is also possible and popular to use a spotlight that runs off a rechargeable power supply. These spotlights are very nice to have, and in many states necessary, as to be legal the light needs to be powered by something else other than the vehicle. Check your local regulations to be sure of all laws pertaining to hunting with artificial lighting.

Calling Coyotes at Night

One of the most effective ways how to hunt coyotes at night is to use predator calls. Coyotes are out and about most at night and are more confident when coming in to calls than they are during the day. If you have experience calling to coyotes and other predators during the day, then you should have success with the same sounds during the night. Common sounds are prey in distress calls, mainly rabbit, bird sounds, and a number of coyote howls, yips, and distress calls.

Both mouth calls and electronic calls work well for hunting coyotes at night, with electronic calls giving you a significant advantage unless you are extremely skilled with a mouth call. Electronic predator calls are extremely loud, clear, and are typically actual voices of real life animals making them very believable to predators. Many coyotes come running in fully expecting to see what they are looking for without fear.

TIP: One thing about how to hunt coyotes at night is that you need to be ready at all times. It may take less than a minute before they are right on top of you. Therefore, make sure you are ready to shoot before you begin your call sequence. Likewise, not all coyotes come in at a full run; some come in casually. If you are in an area that sound can travel long distances, then it may take a while for the coyotes to get to your location. For these reasons, it is important to be patient. Give them plenty of time to come in are you will experience what most experienced coyote callers have and do when as soon as you get up you see a coyote running away. Other predators such as bobcats tend to come in even slower and more alert.

Best Times to Hunt Coyotes at Night

Most states allow coyote hunting at night all year round, but most people partake in coyote hunting during fur bearing seasons, which in most areas is the end of September through march, depending on the year. This does not mean you can't or should not hunt them throughout the spring and summer, but this is when their hides will fetch the highest price.

The warmer weather can be some of the best times to call coyotes though, especially if your are just learning how to hunt coyotes at night. There is less competition during this time of year so coyotes are typically easier to bring in with predator calls.

During the winter, days getting shorter and night longer is one a major reason why many people hunt coyotes at night as well. When it gets dark at 4:30 in the evening, that does not leave much time for hunting coyotes during the daylight hours. If you want to try a few areas after work during the fall and winter, a spotlight might be your only option; and a good option it is. Learning how to hunt coyotes at night will open up a lot more hunting opportunities for someone who would like to get out more often.

Gear You Will Need

There are a few gear items needed to hunt coyotes at night in addition to the typical necessities of day time coyote hunting.

Rifle: Just about any rifle will do the trick for coyotes. These dogs are smaller than one might think with, with a 30 pounder being a big one. They are also soft skinned, so a big bullet is not necessary and will destroy the hide much worse than a smaller one. My personal opinion is that a 243 caliber rifle is the perfect coyote rifle. It is flat and fast shooting, with enough weight to carry the bullet for longer distance shooting. Also, you can find ammo at any sporting goods store and a.243 makes a good caliber for white tailed deer, hogs, and antelope, without much recoil.

Spot Light: Artificial lights can be a number of brands. Spotlights that have the ability to control the light spread are nice as they let you use a flood light for scanning and then dial it in to a beam to determine what you see. It is best to have both a 12 volt light that operates from a vehicle power source/cigarette lighter and a rechargeable spotlight for when you get out of the vehicle. Also, you may want to purchase a red filter (cover) which turns your light beam red. Predators do not see red so they will be unaware that they are getting blasted by a spotlight. Even without the filter, many times they do not even care and keep on coming in.

Predator Calls: There are a number of predator calls that you may choose to use. Electronic calls work the best. Mouth calls such as reed and diaphragm calls work well but make sure you practice before you go out as these calls take time to perfect. Check the last paragraph for specifics on the best calls to use.

We will discuss specific equipment in more detail below.

Be Ready for Anything

One thing to remember when you hunt coyotes at night is that like coyotes, other predators are most active at night as well. For this reason, you should be ready for whatever you may see. Foxes, bobcats, lynx, and other predators are all good animals to take as an addition to coyote hunting at night. In some areas, it is even legal to take cougars at night and hopefully soon, wolves in some states. For this reason, you need to be ready and legally prepared to hunt these animals as well. Check your local regulations as some of these animals may require special licenses and permits. You do not want to have to pass up a predator because you failed to get a tag for it, or even worse because you were not sure whether or not it is legal.

How To Adjust The Parallax Settings On Your Rifle Scope

What the heck is Parallax? I asked the same thing when I first started looking to upgrade from iron sight to a good rifle scope. This guide should give you some insight into getting the best focus out of your Bushnell scope, or any other adjustable parallax scope for that matter.

Cutlery And More

Have you ever looked through a higher power scope and noticed that if you move your eye off center to the edge of the exit pupil, the reticle seems to move across the target? Well, that shift happens when the parallax setting is not properly adjusted for that distance. Some have mistaken the parallax adjustment as a focus or even a range finder, but it is neither of these. The parallax adjustment, when set properly will insure that the reticle is positioned correctly on the target; as though your crosshairs are a part of the target, unmoving, as if they were painted on, just for you. Of course if your scope is not a "target" or a "varmint hunting" rifle scope, you probably don't need to be concerned with adjusting the parallax setting. In most hunting scopes the parallax is negligible, in fact I have a good friend that hunts regularly and he didn't even know what I was talking about when I asked him. I don't hunt, but I love to spend a Saturday at target practice. So to me, any small increase in accuracy is defiantly welcome.

Cutlery And More

Most of the higher power scopes, with a power of 12 or more, will have an adjustment ring at the end of the Objective bell (the end closest to the target). Usually the parallax adjustment ring has the suggested settings printed on them, so you can just dial in the range you're shooting from. The problem is these suggested settings are rarely as accurate as they could be. So why should you go through the trouble of getting yours "just right"? Why not just use the suggested setting? Even if you're a great shot, you could easily shrink the size of your groups by as much as 30%, just by taking the time to properly set the parallax adjustment on your scope. Many shooters don't even realize that even with a few adjustments they could greatly affect their shooting performance. Let's face it, the documentation that came with your scope isn't a real blessing when it comes to learning how to use it, they just assume you already know.

Now that you have an understanding of what parallax is, it's time to fine tune your scope for increased accuracy. I'm going to assume you have already zeroed in your scope and that it's properly sighted in. You will need to set up your rifle so it is securely positioned on a bench. A shooting rest with a vise would be best. Dial in the suggested setting on the parallax adjustment ring for the range that you're shooting from. Now, look through the scope and shift your eye back and forth, left and right so you can see if the crosshairs seem like they are moving across the target. Experiment with the adjustment ring until you have eliminated the illusion that your crosshairs are moving. When you think you've got it perfect, take a little white-out liquid paper and make a mark on the parallax adjustment ring so you'll know where to adjust it later. Some people paint their mark or score it into the metal, but to start with I prefer something that's not so permanent until I'm absolutely certain about the position. Next, go ahead and take three to six shots and see how your grouping has improved. Nice, huh! Don't stop there, move your target 50 yards back and repeat the process. You might as well find the perfect settings for all the ranges that you typically shoot from in 50 yard increments.

If you're in the market for an affordable rifle scope that will really go the distance I can recommend two models from the Banner series of the Bushnell Scopes line of rifle scopes. The 1st is Bushnell Scopes Banner 6-18x50. This is a long range target scope that is also great for varmint hunting, and it's parallax focus can be adjusted from 10 meters to infinity. The 2nd is Bushnell Scopes Banner 6-24x40. This long range target and varmint scope features a mil-dot reticle which is my preferred style of crosshair. Both can be purchased for around 0.00, so they won't empty your wallet. To view these and other Banner series Bushnell scopes please visit my Bushnell Scopes page.

Happy Hunting,

How to Set Up an Efficient Shipping and Receiving Center

Despite the explosive growth of electronic communication, the volume of hard mail continues to rise - driven by consumers and businesses for the handling and processing of their mail. Managing a chain of communication efficiently and cost-effectively - especially in a large corporation - is critical for building customer relationships, reducing corporate waste, and capitalizing on market opportunity.

Done well, an efficient shipping and receiving center can affect any business bottom line and can be a significant cost center. However, leading corporations that are the expert in their own industries often don't know where to begin when it comes to designing a world-class shipping and receiving, or mail center operations. As many enterprises weigh their options in attaining this goal, they turn to outsourcing as the most cost effective and efficient alternative.

Cutlery And More

According to mailstream leader Pitney Bowes, companies often choose to outsource their mail operations for two reasons: expense control and risk management. For many corporations, the cost for postage and overnight express carrier fees in a mid-size firm can surpass -8 million annually, with the costs rising exponentially for larger corporations. Minimizing risk means finding the best workers, staying current with regulatory changes, and using the best technology to gain savings and maximize efficiency. In some companies, mail center managers may compete with other departments within the same organization for qualified staff and budget dollars.

Outsourcing addresses these issues by supplying staff, management, technology and programs to assist corporations in meeting key objectives. Through consolidating jobs or tasks, improvement management, and introducing leading-edge technology, companies can achieve savings and speed up their processing. Other core functions that must be addressed include the day-to-day business procedures, hiring and training staff, implementing and maintaining networks, planning design layout, and implementing tracking tools.

An outsource company can address these issues, beginning by evaluating a company's mail center, determining and introducing new strategies, evaluating progress, and developing a vision for what it means to possess a world-class shipping and receiving service. Leveraging the expertise of an outsource mail management system enables corporations to achieve higher standards in mail operations.

Physical Design and Layout

Some shipping and receiving centers have been designed by default - perhaps enlarged over time in response to enterprise growth, but rarely re-engineered with a focus on overall efficiency of performance. A professional outsource company works with corporations to determine if their mail operations area is fit for this purpose, and recommend changes that need to be made for long-range success. It's vital that the movement of materials to, within, and between all facilities meets the same standards of inbound and outbound products. Considering factors such as width of hallways and floor plans assist companies in designing distribution runs for pickup and delivery that maximize turnaround of interoffice mail traveling within the same company building and to other company buildings.

Mail Flow

Managing the flow of mail is another key factor to developing an efficient shipping and receiving mail center. A productive mail center is able to differentiate between urgent and trivial mail using advanced processing techniques, and imaging and electronic message management. Timely and accurate movement of mail has a direct effect on order processing fulfillment, approval processes, cash flow, and overall communications efficiency. Automated systems assist corporations in retooling inefficient processes, which result in the high-quality management of correspondence mail and highly productive mail operation.

A heightened awareness of worldwide mail security has prompted the U.S. and major mailers and shippers to take decisive action to protect the integrity of the mail. A professional outsource company knows that making mail safe starts with close attention to process. Many companies have found it necessary to scrutinize mail and document security, as well as re-engineer their operations to improve safety. While these efforts help to increase security, it also results in an improvement in quality and efficiency of mail operations.

Creating a world-class shipping and receiving mail center requires in-depth knowledge and experience in the areas of administration, human resource, technology, logistics, and procedures that contribute to the overall mail center operation. Leveraging the knowledge of a professional outsource company, companies can make a confident investment which will reap value and business benefits far into the future.
